1. Show Up Prepared, Not Scrambling
Your session begins before you walk into the gym. Get your pre-workout meal sorted, arrive early to mentally shift gears, and check in with your body. Did you sleep well? Are you sore anywhere? Let your trainer know so they can adjust accordingly.
The more data you bring, the better your trainer can coach.
2. Stick to the Program
A good trainer will design a program with progression in mind. That means your job isn’t to chase variety every session—it’s to execute the plan. If you’re constantly asking to “do something different,” you might be self-sabotaging your own progress.
Results come from consistency, not novelty.
3. Bring Energy, Even If You’re Tired
You don’t need to be bouncing off the walls—but bringing focused energy into your session makes a huge difference. Your trainer feeds off your effort. Even if you’re feeling flat, showing up with a willingness to work sends a clear message: I take this seriously.
4. Ask Questions (Smart Ones)
Want to really learn? Don’t just go through the motions. Ask why you’re doing a certain exercise, or how to improve your form. Great PTs love questions—it shows you’re engaged and thinking critically about your training.
Just don’t interrupt every set with a life story.
5. Follow Through Outside the Gym
